COURSE DESCRIPTION:
- Start / finish at the Cust Community Hall.
- Mill Road,
- turn left towards Rangiora,
- turn left into West Belt Road to Loburn,
- turn left to Ashley Gorge,
- turn left into German Road,
- turn right into Mill Road to finish.
START TIMES:
- 7.30am Pre-race registration
- 8.45am Race briefing
- 9.00am Start of The Charity Classic 75km road ride - individual riders to leave first followed by team riders
CATEGORIES:
Individual
- Junior Men (14-19 years on race day)
- Junior Women (14-19 years on race day)
- Open Men (20-39 years on race day)
- Open Women (under 40 years on race day)
- Veteran Men (40 years and over on race day)
- Veteran Women (40 years and over on race day)
Team
RACE RULES:
- Minimum age is 14 years.
- All roads are open to all traffic, expect oncoming and overtaking vehicles at all times. There are a number of one lane bridges, please obey the road code and give way to all traffic. All road rules, directions from race officials and police must be obeyed.
- Value your safety and keep left. Caution and common sense must be used at all times on the roads.
- DO NOT presume that you have any special privileges or right of way because you are participating in this event.
- No support crews on the course and no cell phones or ipods/mp3 players are to be used.
- Officials will be located on some corners and are there to assist you when possible, however, they are not able to stop traffic. You must obey their instructions at all times.
- It is the competitor’s responsibility to ensure their cycles and cycle helmets are in roadworthy condition.
- If a cycle or helmet is deemed to be unsafe by the race officials, the competitor will not be allowed to start the race.
- The race officials reserve the right to undertake random inspections of competitors’ cycles and / or helmets.
- Medical personnel or race officials have the right to remove any competitor from the race entirely at their discretion.
- The race director will clarify, on the day at race briefing, but as a guide all competitors are expected to reach the half way stage within two hours and the finish line within four hours and 20 minutes. If a competitor has not reached the designated points by these times, you may be asked to withdraw from the race.
- No refunds will be given on withdrawal or non starting of the race.
- The race director’s decision is final.
PRIZEGIVING:
- To be held at the Cust Community Hall at 1pm.
- Individual - Male, Veteran Male, Female, Veteran Female - 1st to 3rd will be recognised
- Junior - We have introduced a male and female junior catagories this year.
- Teams - Men’s team, Women’s team, Mixed team, Tandem team - 1st to 3rd will be recognsied.
- Major spot prize of a Road Bike to the value of $1200.00.
- Spot Prizes: you must be present to claim your spot prize (within one minute of your name being called)
